Sunday, a day to worship and rest

It was a great morning to sleep a little later and then worship at First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Kansas.  Pastor Dan Ferguson welcomed us warmly, he is also a cyclist!  We attended the 10 am service and enjoyed the meaningful praise, message and vibrant congregation,    "How Long Can You Tread Water?" was the message about Noah's story.  We can learn from Noah's story that we should be on the boat, we should have faith and trust in God, we should be obedient to God and be prepared.

The first song we sang was Chris Tomlin's "Our God", one of my favorites! The chorus says:
Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!
 Pastor Dan Ferguson & Russ
It was a beautiful church and a wonderful time to praise God.  I love how He speaks to you wherever you are.  Another part of the message spoke to me, "Noah did everything God asked him to do" he was obedient, even when building the ark took over 100 years.  That reminded me of sometimes I'm very impatient...not willing to wait or be persistent or follow through.  Noah had faith, we are called to be a faithful people.  The pastor shared that we don't always see God's plan or where He's leading but when we are obedient and follow him, that's faith.  This journey is stepping out in faith for us, we may not completely see God's plan in it, but we are willing to go where He leads us.  Some people may see us as crazy, just as they did Noah!  God can use ALL of us in ways we don't always see clearly or even understand, we just have to trust and obey.

After church we went back to visit Grandma Eleanor.  After a delicious lunch at the Uptown Cafe, we drove around town and visited some of the highlights, then spent the afternoon at Grandma's.  We had a great time visiting, I asked lots of questions about family history and took notes.  Very interesting!  We looked at pictures and enjoyed the afternoon.
I took a picture of Gene, Grandma Eleanor and Russ, then I turned the camera around & took a shot of all of us!

This evening we've been relaxing and getting things ready for tomorrow.  We are right next to Walmart, so once again, I stocked up on bananas.  One hundred twenty-three bananas, that is our current count.  It's time to hit the hay, morning will come sooner than I'm ready for.  I hope your Sunday was as blessed as ours, we're feeling happy, rested and thankful.
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement!
Until tomorrow,
Russ & Carol

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The CrossNAmerica trip is First to be a witness of the significance of the Cross of Jesus Christ and Its Foundational Influence Upon This Nation. Its Even the Glue That Holds Us Together. "LAMININ"

Secondly we are raising pledges per mile or single pledges to support any of the five mission organizations listed on this blog or any other worthy Christian mission effort around the world, locally or globally.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
