Week Two/ Sixth day of riding

Wow! What a GREAT day!! We woke at 5 am to cloudy skies but no rain in Fairmont, MN after a night of thunderstorms.  Russ started riding at 6 am and made it to the Iowa state line at 6:45.  After a couple of breaks, we stopped at The Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend, Iowa about 10:00 am.  We enjoyed a tour of the place, ate lunch at the cafe and were back on the road at noon.  We were on Hwy 15 until 1:20 when we started riding south on E-65, a paved county road and ended on Hwy 25 at Bayard.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day with sunny skies and a TAIL WIND!!!!! Thank you LORD!  Thanks also to all of you who prayed for the wind at our backs!  I rode with Russ for 52 miles and he stopped about 6 pm after 141 miles for the day!  WOW! We're both feeling good, in fact, like the song says: "a little stronger every day".  Since the weather was great, the road was excellent, there wasn't much traffic, and we felt good, we just kept going!
We enjoyed beautful farmland in Iowa, lots of corn & soybeans and the aroma of pigs!!  A guy in Minnesota told us it was the smell of money : )  At about 20 mph you can really enjoy the surroundings.  At a break in Manson, we met Michelle Christensen who came out to see what in the world we were doing!  After a nice visit, we were on our way again.  God certainly has us meeting lots of nice and interesting people.
We had to drive to Perry to find a motel, then ate like ravenous wolves at the Mandarin Cafe in downtown Perry.  We've had our showers and are in our P.J.'s and ready to crash!
Broers family, you will be a stop in our day tomorrow...we can HARDLY WAIT!!!
Until next time...keep on praying!
"May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back
The sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand"

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The CrossNAmerica trip is First to be a witness of the significance of the Cross of Jesus Christ and Its Foundational Influence Upon This Nation. Its Even the Glue That Holds Us Together. "LAMININ"

Secondly we are raising pledges per mile or single pledges to support any of the five mission organizations listed on this blog or any other worthy Christian mission effort around the world, locally or globally.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
