Day Eight

We left Creston, Iowa under clear skies, it was a cool 67 degrees with a strong breeze from the east. We headed straight east on US Hwy 34 taking our first break in a nice tree filled roadside park near Murray.  We took a McDonalds smoothie break in Osceola and another roadside break in Lucas.  We stopped in Chariton at The Connecticut Yankee Pedaller, Inc. to have Russ' bike repaired.  Josh fixed the bike in minutes and owner, Dave had great recommendations for lunch, (Get Mugged - a coffee shop in the town square) for our place to stay tonight, (EXCELLENT CHOICE, DAVE!!! THANKS!) and suggestions for our route and gave us a map!
Russ rode the hills today with some challenging wind. We headed south on County Road S56 through Russell, Iowa - of course we had to take a picture there!  From there we took J18 to the Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun.  It is a beautiful place where we enjoyed a delicious dinner, a walk down to the lake, and swimming in the indoor water park. (more pictures!)  It's almost 9 pm and I think we're all ready to hit the hay.  It was an 87 mile day, thank you LORD for another safe, beautiful day!
Thanks again for your prayers!
Until next time (probably in Missouri)

Here are some pictures of our day...

Get Mugged - a coffee shop in Chariton where we ate lunch.
A sign inside said:

Faster with More Energy

A roadside break near Confidence, Iowa.  Notice the sign over the entrance to the cemetery.
When you are buried there I guess you can enter in CONFIDENCE of where you are going!
I thought that was pretty cool...

Yes, this is Russell in Russell, Iowa!

We ended our day at Honey Creek resort.

We really enjoyed the water park!

Wow, each day is filled with really cool stuff. I like how you are meeting such great people who are most helpful. The indoor water park looks so relaxing. Reminds me of seeing Russ at Splash Kingdom one Terrific Tuesday. May God continue to grant you great experiences like these.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The CrossNAmerica trip is First to be a witness of the significance of the Cross of Jesus Christ and Its Foundational Influence Upon This Nation. Its Even the Glue That Holds Us Together. "LAMININ"

Secondly we are raising pledges per mile or single pledges to support any of the five mission organizations listed on this blog or any other worthy Christian mission effort around the world, locally or globally.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
