The road was lined with trees as we went up and down over the beautiful Virginian hills.
There's SO much history in the land we are covering here in Virginia. Today we saw a few "Road to Revolution" signs, some Civil war battlefield signs and we went through Appomattox. I found myself wondering what it would have been like marching through the countryside in Revolutionary and Civil war times. If the trees and hills could talk...
The Farmer's Daughters nursery and country store looked like an interesting place to visit.
We went over a LOT of roller coaster type hills. Later I told Russ I did some strategic driving, trying to hang back on the hill while Russ got down to the bottom and started up the next hill so traffic could spot me from behind. Thank you, Lord for safety!
It's always encouraging to see the cross, a reminder of what the journey is all about.
Today we saw some street and road signs that caught our eyes.
This one is Monkeywrench road!
TALLYHO!!!
Forks we eat with? Forks in the road?
We made sure we didn't turn down Hurt Hill lane, I don't want to go there!
The "Jesus Center, Way of the Cross" sign was reason I snapped this picture, but tonight I noticed the other sign evidently in regard to a building campaign...you go, church! God WILL provide!
Before we knew it, we had taken two roadside breaks, traveled 62 miles reaching Burkeville, Virginia at 12:45. We checked into the Comfort Inn, had a great dip in the pool and later on walked to the Hillside Family Restaurant next to the motel for dinner. We crossed the pond on a neat little covered walking bridge to get to the restaurant.
The Birthday Boy and his dessert!
It has been a blessed day. We are so thankful for the beautiful, mild weather. When so many areas around the country are suffering in extreme heat, we have been blessed with mid eighties to ninety degree days. The winds have been favorable and we have been kept safe. We are also thankful for your prayers and encouragement, they keep us going! Tomorrow Russ pedals from Burkeville to Petersburg, Virginia. We're getting closer every day! Blessings to you!Until tomorrow,
Russ & Carol
You have gone so far, it's unbelievable! Carol, your outlook on life is so refreshing, it's the first thing we read each morning! God bless you three!
